Maisie Block - Violin

Maisie grew up in Wayzata, MN, and began studying the violin at the age of four.  She began taking violin lessons at the MacPhail Center for Music, and participated in the Greater Twin Cities’ Youth Symphonies.

Maisie received her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and her Master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Since graduation, Maisie has pursued a career in orchestral and chamber music performance. A career in music has given her the opportunity to perform in Canada, Europe, China, South America, and Central America.  She has been a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, the Central City Opera, and the Colorado Ballet orchestra.  Currently, Maisie performs with the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Minnesota Opera, and is a substitute member of the Minnesota Orchestra.  When she is not playing the violin, Maisie enjoys riding horses, spending time with her husband, David, their cat Smitty, and their dog Rocksy.

David Block - Violin

A native of Kansas, David began playing violin at the age of 2 as part of a very musical family.  His parents and siblings are currently all professional musicians. 

David has two degrees in music performance.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida State University and his graduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

David has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, the South Dakota Symphony, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Spoleto (ITALY) Festival, and the United States Air Force Academy Band. He formerly held the position of Assistant Concertmaster with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.  He has also served as guest Concertmaster of the Bozeman, MT and Illinois Symphonies.  Currently, David performs with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera, and the Minnesota Sinfonia.  For information on private violin lessons please visit

Charles Krenner - Viola

Violist Charles Krenner, from Cottage Grove, MN, started playing violin at the age of five. After high school he started studying viola with Thomas Turner, principal violist of the Minnesota Orchestra.

He received his Bachelor's degree in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Mark Jackobs of the Cleveland Orchestra, and then continued on to the Professional Studies program with Jeffrey Irvine.

Charles has worked as a substitute musician for the Minnesota Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Toledo Symphony.  Currently, he is a violist with the chamber orchestra CityMusic Cleveland. Charles is also a self-taught artist and composer. Current artwork and compositions can be found at

Darin Anderson - Cello

Darin Anderson started playing the piano at age 3 and the cello at age 5.  He attended the Wayzata school district until age 15 when he left to finish high school in Philadelphia. 

While in Philadelphia, he studied pre-college with Aldo Parisot at both The Juilliard School and Yale University.  He attended college at the University of Minnesota and the Manhattan School of Music. 

Darin played assistant principal for the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra for the 2010 - 2011 season.  In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, golf, soccer, and attending Minnesota Wild games.  He currently lives in Minnetonka with his wife Shawna, daughter Kendal, and his dog Buddy.
